Every photographer has a unique style of shooting. As you are getting ready for your shoot, make sure you have an idea of how the photographer plans to photograph you. If you do not like strobes or flashes, then you need to mention that to the photographer so they can make any necessary adjustments. Make sure there is a backup plan if you are planning to shoot outdoors, and if you have any specific disabilities, it would be a good idea to mention them as well.
Go through your photographer's book and point out the photos that you feel best express you in terms of lighting and mood. This will help your photographer with meeting your needs on an individual basis. Keep in mind that some photographers photograph everyone the same, and do not seek to express your individual personality.
