The most positive thing
about shooting indoors is the fact that you have control over several factors.
You can control the climate, lighting and interruptions, but depending on
the photographer you may find the photographs to be a bit sterile and lacking
in environment. Regardless of whether I am shooting indoors or outside,
the environment I put my actor in is as important as making sure I get the
proper exposure on the film.
- One thing to think about when shooting
indoors, is that with out adequate natural light your photographer will
have to use strobes. I rarely see someone that is bothered by them, but
if you feel that the flashing may be a distraction, you may want to discuss
alternatives with your photographer.
- Make sure you look at the photographers
book carefully. Decide for yourself whether there is enough variety in
backgrounds and environment in the pictures to suit your taste. Sometimes
headshots look very sterile due to lack of environment.
- When you shoot indoors you may find you have more freedom
to relax and let music set the mood.
