As an actor your headshot
is extremely important so it is imperative that you get the best photo
session possible. That being said, planning your budget wisely is equally
important, most actors begin their career working in a "survival" job
to get by.
I have found that most actors
out of school generally get new headshots within a year of graduating.
I have also found that most actors have to get new headshots every
year. Considering that you may need headshots so soon, you need to ask
yourself whether a $1500 price tag is worth it, or if there is someone
with a lower price who will do just as good.
When you are pricing a photographer
make sure you do some research. Understand what packages are being offered
and at what cost, most of this research can be done by visiting web sites.
Ask your self what specific needs you may have, such as an indoor or outdoor
shoot, some photographers will only shoot in the studio.
Understanding what your
needs are, and researching comparable headshot packages will give you an
idea of how much you will have to spend.
